For almost a year now, the toilets on the ground floor near the foyer, in the northern staircase, in our Informatikzentrum have been designated as all-gender toilets<\/strong>. Instead of the usual labelling \u201cWomens’ toilet\u201d and \u201cMens’ toilet\u201d, the toilets are now labelled \u201cToilet without urinal\u201d and \u201cToilet with urinal\u201d. The designation was made as part of an action by the university’s Equal Opportunities Office and the AStA<\/a>, which was originally only scheduled for Pride Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the student council, we expressly welcome this.<\/strong> This way, people can choose which toilet they want to use without worrying that they might not be welcome because they might be misread by others. There are also people who do not feel they belong to either gender<\/strong>. With all-gender toilets, these too are given a place where they do not have to choose against their will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a relatively new building, the Informatikzentrum is equipped with many toilet rooms, on each floor in each stairwell, so that there are a total of 40 toilet rooms<\/strong> (excluding the barrier-free toilet rooms). In the original layout, these were 20 women’s toilets and 20 men’s toilets. As a result of the reallocation, there are therefore still 19 of each in the building, plus two all-gender toilets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the period when the toilets were reallocated through posting, we did not receive a single complaint<\/strong>. Instead, we received a lot of encouragement<\/strong> from a wide variety of people who very much welcomed the redesignation. We also stock these two toilets with free period products<\/strong>. We support the Equal Opportunities Office and AStA in their demands for a more open and inclusive university where students feel comfortable just as they are.<\/strong> The installation of more all-gender toilets throughout the university can be one such step. As a further concrete measure at our university, we are also calling for the installation of small rubbish bins in the cubicles of the rededicated men’s toilets, as they are in all women’s toilets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seit fast einem Jahr sind die Toiletten im Erdgeschoss nahe des Foyers, im n\u00f6rdlichen Treppenhaus, in unserem Informatikzentrum als All-Gender-Toiletten<\/strong> ausgewiesen. Statt der \u00fcblichen Beschriftung \u201eDamen-Toilette\u201c und \u201eHerren-Toilette\u201c sind diese Toiletten jetzt mit \u201eToilette ohne Pissoir\u201c und \u201eToilette mit Pissoir\u201c beschriftet. Die Ausweisung wurde im Rahmen einer Aktion des Gleichstellungsb\u00fcros der Universit\u00e4t sowie des AStA<\/a> vorgenommen, die jedoch urspr\u00fcnglich nur f\u00fcr den Pride Month angesetzt war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Als Fachschaft begr\u00fc\u00dfen wir das ausdr\u00fccklich.<\/strong> So k\u00f6nnen Personen sich die Toilette aussuchen, die sie verwenden m\u00f6chten, ohne Sorge, dass sie nicht willkommen sein k\u00f6nnten, etwa weil sie von anderen falsch gelesen werden k\u00f6nnten. Au\u00dferdem gibt es Personen, die sich keinem der beiden Geschlechter<\/strong> zugeh\u00f6rig f\u00fchlen. Auch diesen wird mit All-Gender-Toiletten ein Ort gegeben, an dem sie sich nicht gegen ihren Willen entscheiden m\u00fcssen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das Informatikzentrum als relativ neues Geb\u00e4ude ist mit vielen Toilettenr\u00e4umen ausgestattet, auf jeder Etage in jedem Treppenhaus, so dass insgesamt 40 Toilettenr\u00e4ume<\/strong> (die barrierefreien Toilettenr\u00e4ume ausgenommen) zur Verf\u00fcgung stehen. In der urspr\u00fcnglichen Aufteilung waren das 20 Damen- und 20 Herren-Toiletten. Durch die Umwidmung befinden sich im Geb\u00e4ude daher noch 19 von jedem, sowie zwei All-Gender-Toiletten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In dem Zeitraum, in dem die Toiletten durch Aushang umgewidmet wurden, ging bei uns keine einzige Beschwerde<\/strong> ein. Stattdessen erhielten wir viel Zuspruch<\/strong> von den unterschiedlichsten Personen, die die Umwidmung sehr begr\u00fc\u00dfen. Diese beiden Toiletten werden zus\u00e4tzlich auch durch uns mit kostenfreien Menstruationsprodukten<\/strong> best\u00fcckt. Wir unterst\u00fctzen Gleichstellungsb\u00fcro und AStA in ihren Forderungen nach einer offeneren und inklusiveren Universit\u00e4t, in der sich Studierende so wohl f\u00fchlen, wie sie sind.<\/strong> Die Einrichtung weiterer All-Gender-Toiletten an der gesamten Universit\u00e4t kann daf\u00fcr ein solcher Schritt sein. Als weitere konkrete Ma\u00dfnahme bei uns fordern wir dar\u00fcber hinaus die Installation kleiner M\u00fclleimer in den Kabinen der umgewidmeten Herren-Toilette, wie sie in allen Damen-Toiletten vorhanden sind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
