Registration open for this year’s Universitätsfest: secure your places now!
The University of Bonn is cordially inviting all graduates to the Universitätsfest 2025! Taking place on the Hofgarten lawn on Saturday, July 5, the open-air event promises a truly festive atmosphere and program. Prior registration for this year’s event is obligatory and open from March 15 to June 1.
The Universitätsfest is a special event for graduates to celebrate their successful completion of studies with family and friends, culminating in the traditional “tossing of hats.” In addition to presentations held on stage, a diverse program will be organized all around the Hofgarten lawn where visitors get the opportunity to buy merchandise, enjoy culinary delights, make use of the photo stands and participate in hands-on activities. Another important item on the event agenda is the handing out of the highly decorative presentation certificates. A true highlight and a symbol for successful completion of studies is the traditional “tossing of hats” at the very end of the celebrations.

Anniversary celebrations: “Forever Uni Bonn”—save the date now

This year we are celebrating 20 years of Universitätsfest! To mark this special occasion, and following on to the Universitätsfest, the University of Bonn is inviting you to a public “Forever Uni Bonn” celebration. Anyone interested is welcome to join—free of charge and without prior registration.
Once again guests can look forward to a varied program filled with hands-on activities, live music including a special act performing on the Hofgarten lawn stage, culinary highlights and the opportunity to sing along, accompanied by an orchestra. The event is rounded off with a DJ session.

Welcome to the University of Bonn!

We are happy to welcome you at the University of Bonn and hope that you arrived safely.
Regardless of whether you are going to study the Master Computer Science or Cyber Security you probably still have a lot of unanswered questions. Maybe even some that you didn’t know you had. For example: What does “c.t.” mean? How do I register for a class? How do the exercises and the practice sheets work? Which lectures do I visit in my first semester?
Joint together, the student body and programme management want to help you answer these questions and many more.

At the beginning of every semester, the student body and programme management organize an orientation unit (OU) for new master students.

The most important goals of the OU are:

– Meet your peers – without friends, studying is hard!
– Get to know the unis facilities – so that you can find your way around!
– Take away the panic – it’s all going to work out fine!
– Answering your questions – so that you are well-prepared!
– Have fun – of course!

During the OU you will meet peers from higher semesters who will tell you anything you need to know. We will show you the campus, and you will have plenty of time to get to know your peers.
The OU for master students takes place on Thursday the 3rd of April in room 0.016 of the computer science building. If you have time, we’d be happy to have you. You don’t need to register, just show up.

Statement zu der queerfeindlichen Aktion von Revolte Rheinland in der Nacht vom 26

auf dem Landes-Asten-Treffen (LAT) wurde beschlossen, die Landesregierung aufzufordern, die Finanzierung der Studierendenwerke zu erhöhen (Brandbrief_Studierendenwerke_Finanzierung). Zum Kontext, das Studierendenwerk betreibt u.A. die Mensa und die Studierendenwohnheime. Der Asta ist die zentrale Vertretung der Studierendenschaft an Unis und kümmert sich u.A. um Dinge wie das Semesterticket, betreibt den Asta-Laden und schreibt

Die Finanzierung der Studierendenwerke geschieht aus den Sozialbeiträgen (Semesterbeiträgen) und durch die Landesregierung. In den vergangenen Jahren geschieht die Finanzierung mehr und mehr durch die Sozialbeiträge (der Brief hat dazu Graphiken). Die LAT hat daher eine Aufforderung an die Landesregierung geschickt, den Studierendenwerken mehr Geld zu geben und die versprochenen Krisenhilfen auszuzahlen.

Die Fachschaft unterstützt diese Forderung.
