Who is allowed to vote?
- Entitled to vote and votable is, who is registered in the electoral register at the 3rd of June 2011.
- The electoral register is created from the list of enrolled students for the diploma, bachelor and master programs of computer science.
- The franchise can be determined with the student ID. The study course in which you are entitled to vote is marked with a star symbol (*).
How will be voted?
- Every voter has one vote, that he or she uses to vote for one candidate of an electoral list.
- The allocation of seats will be determined by the D'Hondt method.
- The seats determined by this method will be given to the candidates in order of the number of votes.
What is the exact procedure for voting?
Please take your student id and go to one of the ballot boxes (info on times and places can be found on the title of this flyer). There you will receive a ballot paper and a mark on your student id, which shows that you already have voted (and thus cannot vote again).
Please vote by marking one of the boxes with a cross (only one cross altogether!). By casting your vote, you decide who should represent you. In case that there is no candidate that you approve of, you can still support the student body by submitting a ballot paper without making a cross. In this case you abstain from voting. Another alternative would be to put your cross for more than one candidate. This would mean that you are supporting the complete list of candidates, but not a single person.
How can I find out about the election results?
The public counting of the elections for the student body of the department of Computer Science will take place on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 5 p.m. at the student body’s office (room A125 at Altbau AVZ III). The election results will also be published.
Why should I vote at all?
It is as simple as that: you should vote to clear your conscience and to fulfill your democratic responsibility.
If this is not enough: it is important that as many students as possible go to the elections in order to reach a high voter participation. High voter participation makes the professors aware that many students support the student body – or, the other way around: it proves that the student body represents many students. Thereby, student body and student representatives become more credible towards the professors and thus assert more easily the students’ interests.
